The climate @ Barcelona & the rest of the world

I am unhappy with the changes in the climates... more cause I know it´s our own fault... We wanna improve our lives, live better, richer and more luxurous then the old days.. but it costs more. Environmental speaking then.

So, thats why I put together a list of 10 things you can do to save and energy.. and money:

* Don't leave appliances on standby: Don't leave appliances, such as TVs, stereos and DVD players, on standby and remember not to leave appliances like mobile phones or laptops on charge unnecessarily.

* Install Energy Saving Recommended bulbs: They cost a bit more than ordinary light bulbs but they last 12 times longer.

* Buy Energy Saving Recommended appliances: When replacing appliances (especially large appliances like fridges and washing machines), look for ones displaying the Energy Saving Recommended logo.

* Turn off lights when not required.

* Use cold water whenever hot is not necessary.

* Don't let water run while shaving, washing your face or hands or brushing your teeth: Brush your teeth first while waiting for water to get hot, then wash or shave after filling the basin.

* Dishes by hand? When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water. Quickly rinse under a slow-moving stream from the faucet.

* Wash your laundry at a lower temperature: Washing at 30º or 40º C rather than normal temperatures means you use 40% less electricity.

* Don’t leave the heater running overnight or while you are out during the day: If possible, install a time switch so that the heater turns on when you wake up or arrive home from work.

* Recycle whatever you can! So glass, paper, carton, plastic and metal. But also by painting that old chair or that table in stead off buying a new one, you can save on material and money!
